Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a bit of overhang for easy removal.
- Melt the Butter:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Mix Ingredients:
- Stir the sugar into the melted butter until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Add Chocolate Chips:
- Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks if using.
- Bake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- The brownies will continue to set as they cool.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, lift them out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang and cut into squares.
Tips:
- Texture: For fudgier brownies, slightly underbake them. For cakier brownies, bake them a bit longer.
- Add-Ins: You can customize your brownies with nuts, dried fruit, or a swirl of caramel or peanut butter.
- Storage: Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
Enjoy these rich and delicious chocolate brownies as a perfect treat for any occasion!
